Snape walked into the classroom as class let out, letting the children filter past him. Lupin sat at the desk organizing parchment with a satisfied look on his face. Snape felt the same way Lupin did; teaching was indeed very satisfying.

Lupin looked up to see Snape enter the room. "You're coming to see *me*?" asked Lupin, a surprised smile on his face. "You never come to see me."

"You've got a problem with that, Remus?" asked Snape.

Chuckling, Lupin answered, "No, Snape, I don't. What can I do for you?"

"I came to see if you'd like to join me for lunch" replied Snape.

"Well, well, Severus, old man...what's the occasion?" asked Lupin, winking, a leering grin on is face.

Snape turned to leave the room. "Forget it," growled Snape over his shoulder.

"Oh, come on, Severus. Of course I'll have lunch with you. Where are we going?"

Snape stopped and turned. He looked at Lupin for a while, studying, trying to comprehend his roguish friend.

"We're having a picnic. We need to stop by the kitchen for the basket," replied Snape, softness creeping into his voice again.

"OK. Let's go!" said Lupin, standing up and tossing aside the work before him. He walked past Snape, opened the door and put a hand on his back beckoning him to go through first.

The house elves had prepared a gloriously huge basket of food and wine. Snape and Lupin retrieved the heavy basket from the kitchen and headed for the other side of the lake where the sun beat down on a huge patch of grass behind a grove of willow trees.

Snape sat the basket down and opened it tossing a large checkered blanket to Lupin. Lupin shook it out and laid it down on the grass. Snape continued, wordlessly, handing Lupin plates, napkins, and dishes of food, glasses, and silverware as Lupin set up the picnic.

"Severus," said Lupin, "I thought a picnic was supposed to be less work than eating at home."

"Since when?" growled Snape in return.

Smiling, Lupin plopped down on the large blanket and started peeking into various bowls and containers, commenting occasionally, "Yum..."

Finishing, Snape sat down on the blanket across from Lupin and reached for a roll. "Time to eat, Remus. Help yourself."

As they began their meal near the willows, Snape paused to look at Lupin. Even at high noon in the bright light of day, Snape could see the animal in his friend. He watched him eat, tearing at the chicken and rolls with sharp white teeth.

Pausing to take a drink of wine, Lupin caught Snape looking at him. "What?" asked Lupin.

"Nothing," answered Snape.

"What are you looking at?" asked Lupin, starting to feel a little self-conscious.

"Nothing," answered Snape going back to his grapes, stirring his banana pudding idly with a spoon.

"Come on, friend, what's on your mind?" probed Lupin.

"Friend," repeated Snape sadly.

"Yes, Severus, friend. Now, tell me, friend, what's on your mind?"

Lupin and he had been friends for many years. They shared secrets and ambitions, conquests and disappointments. But as they sat here on this lazy day, Snape felt the aching need for something more. At one time, his friendship with Lupin was fulfilling and comforting. Today, it seemed it was lacking...something.

Snape continued staring at his food. His silence grew heavy as he struggled to proceed. He was desperately trying to choose his words before speaking again.

Lupin, sensing the internal conflict, scooted over to sit next to Snape. "You've got food on your chin, Severus," said Lupin, reaching up and brushing off some crumbs. Snape remained silent. "What is it that you want, Sev?" Lupin repeated gently.

"More grapes. Pass the grapes," replied Snape, gruffly.

Lupin reached for the grapes. He picked one and held it up. "Your grape, Severus," said Lupin. Lupin lifted the single grape to Snape's lips and put it to his mouth, allowing Snape to take the grape from his fingers.

As Snape ate the grape, Lupin watched him. "What is it that you really want, Severus?" asked Lupin.

"I want...need...more," responded Snape very quietly.

Eyes locked, not breaking visual contact, Lupin reached for a second grape and fed that one to him as well; and this time, his fingers lingered on his lips longer. The third grape was even more sensuous. As Lupin fed it to Snape, Snape grabbed his hand after taking the grape and slowly sucked on the presented fingers, taking them into his mouth one at a time.

"What do you want next?" asked Lupin, his tone slightly strangled.

"Pudding. Now." said Snape, keeping his voice as controlled as possible.

Lupin dipped his finger into the pudding and painted a line on Snape's neck. He then leaned in and licked it off. He then dipped into it again and painted a line of it on his own exposed chest. He looked into Snape's eyes, pleading. Snape responded to the unspoken request. Snape leaned forward and erotically licked the sweet pudding off of Lupin's chest.

Lupin pushed Snape down on the blanket and unfastened the robe exposing Snape past his navel. Lupin picked up a pasta noodle and laid it on Snape's stomach. He then knelt down and ate the pasta off of Snape's stomach without using his hands. Lupin returned to the hard stomach to dip his tongue into Snape's navel triggering an erotic rash of gasps as Snape arched to meet that delicious tongue.

Snape sat up quickly, twisted around, and pushed Lupin down, straddling him. Snape undid the clasps on Lupin's robe completely exposing his chest. Snape reached for the honey and drizzled it on Lupin's nipples and bent down to lick it off.

"Oh, God, Severus," Lupin gasped, "This is so unbelievably kinky!"

"Stop talking" warned Snape.

Snape bent to kiss Lupin. The kiss was deep and soulful. Snape pulled away and looked into Lupin's eyes, searching for something...a sign, perhaps.

"What else do you want, Severus...what do you need?" asked Lupin

"I want to be closer to you...closer" whispered Snape, returning to kiss Lupin's eyes.

"Yes," replied Lupin, answering the unspoken question.

Suddenly, they were stripping, undressing each other, their eyes locked in lustful communication. Snape grabbed Lupin's face kissing his mouth tenderly and easing him down again, to lie on the blanket.

Snape stammered, "...need so much more..." as he kissed Lupin, touching his face, his chest, and smoothing his hair.

When Snape finally entered Lupin they both gasped at the intense sensation. Grappling and clawing, their lovemaking was deliberate and powerful, a slow and steady thrusting. Snape grasped the blanket beneath them as the heat and passion overtook them both. As they both neared their climax, the union was so profound they almost forgot to breathe, too in synch with one another.

When they finally did climax, they did so together; both of them shouting, clawing, grasping for some balance. For a brief second, it seemed as if their souls were one soul, way beyond the closeness they were trying to achieve.

Snape continued moving inside of Lupin, slowly thrusting as he leaned down to whisper, "So close...so close..."

And Remus replied, "...yes, as one."

After several minutes, Snape rolled off of Lupin and they lay there side by side staring at the azure sky. When he finally trusted himself to do so, Snape spoke: "That was so..." but he let the comment trail off.

Lupin rolled over on his side, propping himself up on one elbow. "Yes it was. Good, God, Severus, why didn't you say something before?"

Snape grunted a reply, not trusting himself to attempt any more words.

"What the devil were you waiting for?" asked Lupin, prompting.

Snape sat up and looked at him steadily. "Maybe I was waiting for those damned house elves to find a big enough picnic basket for all of this crap!" retorted Snape, in a sinister tone.

Pushing Snape over, Lupin fell back on the blanket, laughing and shaking his head.

Fin.
